I think public schools, like most schools, are breeding grounds for all manner of behaviours - some good, some not so good. I believe that sexual orientation is a characteristic that a person is born with, and therefore childhood experiences can't make a person become gay or lesbian or straight. Besides very few children in the UK actually attend public school and it's difficult to see how a tiny minority could have such a profound impact on the sexual orientation of hundreds of thousands of gay, lesbian or bisexual people.
